NECOA Status Report -- February 2004

NECOA Status Report -- February 2004

The year 2004 is off to a great start for NECOA. Our membership continues to grow and has passed the 2300 mark last week. Based on past trends, it would not be unrealistic to expect 3500 members by the end of this year.  When Dan Smith asked me to fill in for him as National Director, we discussed the importance of filling out the roster of Regional Directors in our 25 geographic regions. Along those lines several recent changes have been made:

Dan Smith resigned as National Director and assumes the title of “Founder” and remains on the Board of Directors, while he is busy at his regular job and traveling.

John Harris became National Director and is replaced by Jay Levitan of Leicester, Massachusetts as Region #2 Director.

Familiar names Ernie Guglielmo (“Ernie G.”)of Rhode Island and Peter Engstrom (“Elky Pete”) of Texas, both of whom have been forum moderators, become voting members of the Board of Directors.

Jon Roberts of Fremont California becomes our new Region #18 Director (Northern California and Southern Nevada).

Jerome Jenkins of Gramercy, Louisiana becomes Region #14 Director (Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana).

What we are looking for in the next few months is an effort to recruit new members of NECOA and also to schedule your region’s participation in at least one show, cruise-in, or other event. We also need your help in identifying candidates to fill regional director vacancies.

We will continue to keep in touch with you on a regular basis by posting on our website.  Some of the things that are in the early planning stage include making NECOA clothing and gear available from national vendors, preparing artwork and banners for your use at local events, and perhaps getting some of our regular vendors to help us with promotions and recruiting new members. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcomed.  Please stay in touch.

John Harris, National Director
