Answer
·  How do I post a picture in my reply?

If you want to post a picture - that picture must be on the net somewhere (have a valid URL), and you can bracket that URL with the UBB IMG tag. If the picture is deleted or unavailable on the host site it'll show up as a "empty box". Keep in mind, most "free" hosting sites are now disallowing linking to pictures from other sites. (geocities, photopoint, etc...)

·  Can I use HTML in my messages?

HTML tags are turned off on this message board. You are able to use UBB Code in your posts, UBB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic functions, such as hyperlinking, image display, bolding and italicizing.

·  Can I edit my post?

You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit and "X" icon on the line that begins "post subject" Click either of these icons to edit or delete the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator or the bulletin board administrator. A note is generated at the bottom of each post that is edited so that every one knows when a post has been edited. Note that if your post was the start of a new topic, deleting your post will result in the removal of the entire topic (all replies after your topic will also be deleted).

·  Where did my post go?

There are currently 19 topics on the message board. Topics cater to various subjects which make it easy to search for answers or keep track of related information. It is a way of keeping the place organized and effective as an information resource. Please try and post your questions in the appropriate topic. If you post a transmission related question in the general camaro questions topic - it'll get magically moved to the transmission topics section for you. It can be moved in one of 2 ways: It can be completely moved, in which case it shows up in the new topic, and is gone in the old topic. or It can be locked in the current topic and open for replies in the new topic. In addition to being locked, it'll have a notification as to which topic it was moved to. Also, as mentioned above - a user has the ability to delete a topic they start. If you reply to a topic and the original poster decides to delete the topic, your reply is history. Moderators reserve the right to move any topic. Do us all a favor and try and post your questions in the appropriate topic so they don't need to be moved, and so people who know the answer to your question will have a better chance of seeing/answering your question. Finally, someone else who has the same question you did will be able to search & find the answer and not have to reask the question or try and guess which forum the answer might be in.

·  Is there a limit to signature image size?

We ask that you keep your images relatively small. As a rule, please do not exceed 400 x 100 pixels and/or 35k for a signature image. This will ensure that the forums load quickly for all users.

·  Why is a post's subject so important?

The first post of a given thread establishes the subject by which all subsequent replies will be known. Once there's been a reply, the thread subject cannot be subsequently changed. It's therefore important to get the subject right from the outset. Make it as descriptive and as specific as possible. For example, 'LCD burn-in questions', is much better than something completely generic, such as 'Newbie needs help!'. Not only is it more likely to elicit a response, but it'll also make it much easier for all posts in the thread to be subsequently located.

·  Commercial Activity?

This site started out as and remains a free, non-commercial information exchange for El Camino Owners. It is still free and available for anyone to partake in. The "Garage sale" forum and the "Classified" sections are intended as non-commercial areas as well. Currently there are no outside retailers or vendors subsidizing El Camino Central. We have negotiated discounts with several retailers that specialize in replacement parts and aftermarket accessories for El Camino’s, therefore it makes sense to do business with them. Commercial vendors or members with profit motives are encouraged to partake in club activity, but they should be careful to NOT blatantly or subliminally tout their business: This includes but is not limited to: Blatantly advertising your business in a reply Shouting your business in your signature every time you post something. Suggesting someone’s shop or do business with a place that you happen to own. It is ok to occasionally suggest a commercial supplier if a person asks where to get something. But to continuously or actively publicize that supplier is not allowed. Having a business link in your signature is tolerated if it doesn't get out of hand.
