While there are no dues or fees for membership at El Camino
Central, we do rely upon member contributions to keep the site and server running smoothly. As membership grows, so does
site usage. Recently we have seen a huge jump in server load and bandwidth. As a result, at times we notice extremely
slow page loading. Many of you may have also noticed the new member rankings used to recognize supporting members.
Become a supporting member today and get your own cool rank!
Every little bit helps.

After procrastinating for a number of weeks I have put my money where my mouth is and made my contribution. The Aussie $ exchange rate is pretty good at the moment
This is the ONLY El Camino reference site for me.
EDIT: Whoo Hoo, my 100th post too _________________ John (from Down Under)
I remember trying to watch some of those great "Rock 'n Roll" or "Doo Wop" musical reviews on PBS several times and grumbling about the long-winded fund-raising appeals by the hosts. I didn't understand why they had to do it so often until we began asking ECC/NECOA members to help us purchase the upgraded servers needed to keep this site up and running.
Well, so far we've only gotten about half of what we need to order those servers, and this morning I couldn't even access the site to see what was going on with our organization! So, here goes the sales pitch again --
We need your urgent support to purchase larger servers to keep up with demand from our members and guests. If you have not yet made your contribution, please do so as soon as possible, no matter how large or small the amount. Go to the top of this thread for details on how to make your contribution.
Please step up now to support YOUR WEBSITE! _________________ View my El Camino

It's time to stop complaining and do something to make the site better.
We have almost 10,000 members, If 1/2 sent in $1.00 we would be in great shape. I'm in to make this a better site and made a contribution. Help keep the site free so make a contribution today.
Robert More, our Site Administrator, informs me that as of today he has received about $1500 in contributions from our members. This is getting us pretty close to the point where he can order the minimum upgrade to get our servers working properly. We need to do more than just the "minimum", however, so please send in your contribution now if you have not done so yet.
Please go to the top of this thread for a link to PayPal, or instructions on where to send your checks or money orders. Let's try to get this goal accomplished by the end of next week at the latest! Thanks to all who have stepped up so far. _________________ View my El Camino

I don't want to toot my own horn for donating to my favorite website, as I'm sure many members are also humble, for supporting what they feel as a nessesity to keep this site updated! I want to thank everyone who has dug a little deeper, for something they believe in, to keep a good thing alive! Hans M. Well, to be honest I was expecting a slightly quicker response. I do, however, thank all of those that have stepped up and done their part. To those of you are still thinking about it. Give it a go. The amount doesn't really matter. Just send whatever you guys are able to send. Every little bit counts.
I frequent several other vehicle sites. I think that this by far is one of the very best. Thanks again. _________________ Dropped Fullsize

When I signed on a few minutes ago there were 223 visitors and 10 members using the site. There is no doubt that this is a very popular site. If you haven't contributed before, now is the time. The sooner we get the system upgraded to handle more traffic, the better we can enjoy our favorite site even more. Thanks to all who help maintain our site. _________________

Those of you who have made contributions and have not yet seen your "Rank" changed, please be patient. It is all Robert More can do at the moment just to keep restoring the service. Everyone's contribution will be personally acknowledged after the new servers are purchased and installed.
In the meantime, if you have not sent in your contribution yet, NOW is the time to do so! Please see the instructions as the top of this thread for details on how to do it. Thanks to you all!! _________________ View my El Camino
Robert,
Sorry about delay in contribution, have been off-line for about a week and just read the thread. Check is in the mail on Monday. Thanks for all you do and this "SUPERB" site.

Just wondering..... Would it help if all of us clicked a couple of the "Adds by Google" every time we visited the site? I'm sure it's probably a few cents a click if that, but maybe it would add up. I'm sure that if the adds didn't generate anything worthwhile they wouldn't be there. Robert or anyone that knows the benefit of the adds, please let us know.
Thanks,
