A guy offered me a posi rear from a 95 Camaro, any info on whether it's a bolt-in deal, or what is required to do it? Also, did the 95 Camaro's have an 8.5 inch rear, or is it basically the same 7.5 incher that the El Camino has in it stock? The rear disk brakes are attractive......

take look at that thread. One thing with using that bracket is there is no way to have an emergency brake. I still need to do some more work to get my emergency brake hooked up. The person doing the bracket is who I got the adapters for my front C5 setup. Here is my setup.
On that page click on the 'Rearend modifications' link down towards the bottom to see what I did and how it came out.
PBR is the manufacture of the calipers, pbr.com. You can't buy direct from them.
If you are talking about the base C6 brakes then the bolt pattern is same as the C5s and are a direct swap. The C6 Z06 could be done also but I think you need at least a 19" wheel in the front to clear the 6 piston caliper. Personally I think the base C6, C5 or LS1 should do anyone just fine. So are all 93-97 f-bodies PBR brakes?
the ebrake on PBR is in the caliper correct?
didn't you have to relocate the shocks to make your LS1 rears work?
I'm trying to come up with a complete bolt-on design using mostly production parts. I've already discovered that late-model Blazer spindles use a rotor-over-hub design eliminating the need to machine down my rotors. _________________

PBRs have been used on GMs since I think the 80s. All 93-2008 GM calipers are PBR that I'm aware of. The E-brake on the 93-97 LT1 Camaro's is on the caliper, the 98-02 LS1 brakes have the E-brake in the hub of the rotor.
Yes I had to relocate the shock to clear the caliper but you would also have to for the LT1 setup. More so because of the lever for the E-brake.
The problem you're going to have with the S-10 spindles is that the bearings for the hubs are no longer made and I don't think anyone has started to make them since I looked at them a while back. _________________ '82 El Camino with an LT1 from a 95 Impala SS

PBR brakes came out in 89 in the F-bodies. The earlier disk brakes were Morane cast iron calipers. Not real popular when they were new. The PBR's are aluminum and pretty much the same entry level rear disc kit Baer sells. You can get the backing plate from EBMiller in the hassle free link above. Me makes them for both the 7.5 and 8.5 rear ends. And, the posi unit will be 28 spline where the G-body axles are 26 spline.

in that hassle free link, can I get the backing plates from an 89-97 f-body with PBR or 1LE rear discs?
or are those plates something that are custom fabricated by Ed. I don't see why I couldn't just use factory parts from a junkyard as far as the plates.
don't Camaro's from 82-97 have the same "rectangular" flanges as us? and then went to the square flanges in 98 with the new brakes? _________________

The backing plates are fabbed by Ed. He may or may not have fortory stuff. Yes you could use factory stuff from a junk yard if you can find it. Not sure if it would need any shimming to line up with the G-body axles or not. Not sure about what year had what flanges on the rears. I have a set of Ed's backing plates. Just have not had a chance to install them yet.

I just accidently ran across a picture of a monte carlo with these brakes. the shocks appeared to be relocated, but it wasn't a good shot. the focus was on the differential.
so will I have to relocate my shocks? PBR caliper do look really big. _________________
