Hey everybody, does anybody know the stock exhaust pipe diameter on a 78 350? I'm going to get an electric cutout installed, but want to buy it online, so I need to know which size to buy. Does anybody have any recommendations for the best location to install this guy? Before/After Cats, etc. Thanks!

Tom, First~~~ Welcome to ECC, Glad you made it here!
If memory serves me right I believe it was 1.75" stock.
If I may make a suggestion tho, If you are going to the expense of installing Electric Cutouts, this would be a perfect time to upgrade your system to a 2.50 system, that in it's self will give you a much better achievement factor. Just my opinion. Also install them at down tubes before cats / mufflers ect.

thanks for the reply! would upgrading to 2.5in pipes require new headers? i'm on a pretty tight budget, otherwise i'd do a proper exhaust system.

No it would not, The flange is the same size on 99.9% of headers on the market, unless you have something exotic or custom built to certain specs.

But do check around as shops can vary a great deal in prices.
