I just bought an '84 El Camino and I'm sure the suspension can manage to work for a while, but if I were to change the shocks/springs and add larger sway bars for a stiff, but comfortable ride. What would you recommend?
I understand I can get used swaybars from certain cars in the salvage yard, but don't know which ones so, if you could. Steer me in the direction of a distributor that sells everything for a fair price and the makes and models and years of those I can go looking for in the salvage yards.
Thanks and I am looking for stock ride height or a moderate drop of say 1" front and rear.
I have a 350 w/ac, pwr brakes, steering.
Aloha,
Scott Cool

you can get a front 36mm hollow swaybar from a third gen f-body.

the later IROC GTA WS6 and maybe 1LE were available with these. just try to avoid the 36mm solid bar as it is heavier.

just look near the endlinks for a hole in the swaybar, it is hollow afterall.

Vendors: I would like to see if there's any vendors that carry sway bars/shocks/springs/bushings(all)/etc...

All F41 suspension pieces off any G-body will fit on your Elky. Do a search on F-41 suspension

Global West was pretty good to me. Parts are here, but car's in a million pieces... can't give you a verdict on the parts. Some say they are the best.
