Ok so i just bought my first el camino today... its a 78 well let me let you see the add...

http://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/783749470.html

ok well really what im trying to ask is this what would the motor alone run for... the engine is crazy... i was doing about 115mph on I-95 coming back home and it still wanted more.. i felt like i kinda stole from the man but he knew what he was giving me... he builds race cars for a living...

so what you think?

i also need some sites where i can get a cheap cowl hood fiberglass/steel and a new r/f fender can also be fiberglass/steel

help a newbie out please

Looks like you indeed got a bargain---I say enjoy your good fortune---look for a metal cowl hood made by Goodmark and stay with metal fenders---leave the fiberglass for the race cars that don't get driven much----just my opinion..................Dan

thanks dan i appreciated the great wisdom... i was kinda thinking the same thing and yeah the owner of the car told me to go to goodmark and get the cowl hood... its just i found a cheaper hood thats fiberglass and i wanted to put the hood pins on the hood again and i dont want it to rust out like the one i currently have....

but anyways can someone please tell me how much the engine may be worth??

you got about 600.00 in parts, 400.00 for a block, 600.00 for machine work, = 1600.00, its nothing special, the car body is worth more than your motor

If there is no body rot, and the tires/brakes are roadworthy, then you stole it for that price.

Go with the steel hood; in the long run you'll be better off.

Good luck with your bargain Elky!
