I just Bought a 67' El Camino....

I was told the car was a org. 396 4 speed....

Car is now a 350 + th 700

How Can i tell if it is a org 396 car with a 4 speed manuel Embarassed Embarassed

Vin Says : 136807z116900

Cowl plate Says:

St: 67-13680
Tr : 763
Body: Bf03256
Paint: gg

I also have 12b and b 90 stamped on it

Welcome to ECC, Jimmy. GM did not start putting a engine code in the VIN untill 72. The trim plate and the cowl plate are the same thing just called by a different name by some. The protecto plate was in the owners manual when the car was new, looked like a credit card, probably long gone by now. Your only hope of finding out how it was originaly equiped would be to find a build sheet in the car somewhere. There may or may not be one and there is no guarantee where it will be. Looks like this-
