Im sure all of you got the e-mail that Mr.Harris sent out the other day.
"Dear Friends -- NECOA members have been invited to be the guest club early this season at Lee USA Speedway in Southern NH. It is a well-run local NASCAR track with a fun program every Friday night. Club members are invited to display their cars in a grassy field just inside the main gate prior to the nightly program. Admission for car and driver is free. Just before the feature event, our cars will go out onto the track for some Parade Laps, during which the announcer will identify each car and driver. We will also have the track photographer shoot pix of everyone's Elky so you can purchase them for you own use.
I attended a similar event two years ago at Lee with some cruise-night friends and it was great fun. See the photo attached on me and my Elky. We have tentatively booked Friday, May 16 as our date. If you would like to attend, please drop me an email message and we will keep you informed about our plans. I have attached a flyer from the Speedway and some info about the event. (At bottom of this email message.)
The track is about 25 minutes north of the MA State Line, at Haverhill MA. Attendees need to be at the track at 5:00 p.m. so it will require leaving work early or taking a 1/2 vacation. It is a fun night and should be a good time. There are discounted admissions for family members and friends. Let me know if you want to attend. We will probably try to set up several strategic locations for local members to join up and do a joint "cruise" up to the highway where we all meet to travel in a caravan.
Hope you can attend. Regards, John Harris, National Director - NECOA"
I just want to try to push this one. it sounds like a really fun event for everyone to meet up, and to be able to drive around the track for a few laps would be sweet We should try to get as many caminos to come as possible. Who else is comming? ill try to find a good place to meet up if we get enough people. Ive already requested the day off of work, so im def going, going to try to paint my car before then as well. _________________ "Ninja Kick The Damb Rabit" quote by Mikey from TMNT the movie!

Man, I wish I could handle that drive. I would love to hook up with you guys and cruise a couple laps and all. Sounds like a really fun night. And anytime the spotlight is on Elkys, that's a good thing. And Necoa being reconized is icing on the cake. Hope you guys have a great time. Don't forget your cameras. John, thanks for sending out the e-mails on this event and rounding up our crew. Enjoy it guys. PS- If I were able to go, I'd have to see if I could rent the track for 15 minutes and give ol MNunn a good shallacking. heh, heh, heh... _________________ Mark

I am glad to see you guys are "jumping on this" --- John called me a couple of weeks ago to suggest it as THE early spring rally for our local club and I thought it was a great idea.
I am planning to take el Bandido to work that day then head out for a long lunch --- how could anyone expect me to get back to the office after driving all the way to Lee NH to meet a customer for lunch?
I know its a long drive for a lot of guys but taking a Friday off work always makes for a better weekend - and what better way to start the weekend than with a bunch of guys with the same interests ! el Camino !
This should be a great way to start off the upcoming show season with a "get together" -- John tells me that it makes no sense to clean and shine since there is quite a bit of dust and vulcanized tire debris at the track... so just get in your el Camino and drive up to the track...
If any of you did not get John Harris email with the details please email or PM me and I will send it to you.

I emailed John back as soon as I could saying that I'd love to go!
This maybe a once in a life time chance to run our Elkys around a track.
I'm sure that it will take more then 4-5 cars to make this happen? I'm thinking what a better way to start off the summer of 08. _________________ 1975 El Camino Ground up Resto Complete 7-17-07 Scaldinghotelcamino.com

We've gotten some good response from members planning to attend. I hope we can get a few more to plan for this fun event. Here's a copy of the original posting:

Just less than three weeks to go before this first event of the year here in still-chilly New England. Good reponse so far with about 10 members signed up to join us. Need a few more to make it really special.
Email me if you are planning to attend. This is not a SHOW event, just a good time get-together. Bring you daily driver, work-in-progess, unwaxed, half-painted/half-rusted Elky.
Friday, May 16, Lee USA Speedway, in southern NH. Contact John Harris at necoa@comcast.net _________________ View my El Camino
