Try cleaning the ground wire and attachment point on the body located under the left side of the bumper.

Pick up a new turn signal switch from AZ or Advance and drop the cover off the bottom of the steering column and unplug the turn signal wiring connector and plug the new one on. If it doesn't fix it you can return it. I think you will find that your problem will be solved and then you can proceed to install the new one. Since the running lights are working it sounds like the rear grounds are OK.

If you notice your taillights are dimmer than your brake lights and turn signals. The reason for this is the bulb has two filaments with different resistances. You wouldn't want your tail lights to flash with the turn signals so - to solve the problem the engineers figured out they would let the brake lights and the turn signals share the lower resistance (brighter) side of the bulb. This means when you step on the brakes the switch sends the voltage to the turn signal switch so that if you happen to have both on (going to make right turn so right signal on and then step on the brake to slow down for the turn) the turn signal switch can keep the turn signal flashing on the right side and steady on on the left side.
That was a long way of saying that the brake lights run through the turn signal switch.
I could have just said "Take my word for it" but that wouldn't have helped you understand that a lot of people on here that reply to questions like yours actually understand the operation of most systems on the vehicle. The answers you got were to save a lot of time typing and going through the explanation like I have now done for you. HTH
Sorry I am just in one of those moods.

Very interesting. I did not know that the brake circuit goes through the turn indicators. I curious why no one thinks it might just be the stop light switch though?

You could have two problems going on I guess. You could have a bad brake light switch and a bad turn signal switch. You said you didn't have 4 ways either and that is why we are all going down the path off the TS switch.
