Yeah, I've had a few moments like that. I look at it and see all the flaws everyone else acts like it's a Enzo Ferrari. At least it's positive attention. I'm also noticing more and more project Elky's showing up lately.

Cool

I had mine painted about 5 months ago Viper Red and did the whole interior as well. She sits on 15" cragar ss wheels and just looks mean. I get it almost daily "who's car is that" and when I say mine they ask "wanna sale it" of course I say no. But now it's to the point where I just say it's not for sale. I had one guy bring 10,000 cash and place it on the counter. I still had to turn him down. It feels good to have people drool over your ride but if it doesn't say for sale don't ask. Going to post pics soon.

Aside from the usual people that stare, I pulled up to a convience store and there was this elderly lady walking to the door. She just stopped and with a great big smile she told me she just loved those cars!! I'll just bet she used to have one. Anyway kinda made me feel good!

Nah, you got one of the models from the muscle car years. 18K is chump change for a nice original especially if it's an SS.

Besides, people rarely are bold enough to offer what it's really worth.

Cool

At a place that I stop by. There's a young fellow who works there that always talks to me & takes time to walk over & look. He just has that "wow" look on his face.

I personally do not fall in love with anything i get bored easily, so with that on mind I have had many people compliment my 65 and a few have offer to buy it we have always been too far apart as far as price is concern. I have it in the garage and somtimes i think maybe I should really advertise it and see someone else get the enjoyment i did when I bought her...

Since I painted mine I get lots of stares. Before painting though, they would hear the roar coming down the street (I have side pipes) and they would look at every other car first, I guess mine didn't fit the "image" of a muscle car. But now they stare and comment on it quite a bit. I can't help but smile. Happy

Mine is a 73, SS. I purchased it from my Father-in Laws estate in 98 when he passed away. Paid 1 grand for it. one of my fellow truck drivers offered me $1800 for it, sight unseen and he would go to Texans and get it. I turned him down. It cost me $500 for expenses to ge get it and bring it back to Michigan. I have driven it every summer since and just 3 weeks ago, started the resoration process. Running gear is all rebuilt and ready to go. Cant wait to get started on the paint. Real glad I turned him down. I have had other inquire's about a selling price, but it is a family heirloom. My son and I are doing all of the work, so we will have something to be proud of when it is finished.

I think basically people either love them or hate them. One thing's for sure...the replies to my "make me an offer" response to the ones looking to buy it keep going up in $ since I got the thing 4 yrs ago...

4 day's ago, I had a gentleman pull byside me at a red light. rolled down his window and said, "I have a real nice chevy truck i'll trade you for that"

Today I parked it across the street from our local buick dealership for about 4 hours, and when I came back, there was a note on the windshield that reads, "If you want to sell this CAR, call me at #######

I imagine it will be more frequent after we get the paint and interior finished.
