Here is a link to a Turbo Buick post that has a bunch of pictures of the black Gran Camino that we had pictures of a while back (I can't find the post) so I started this one. This one has the engine bay, interior and rear end setup.

Sure looks better than mine does at this point---and probably always will---I intend driving mine when its done---actually going to tow the Regal T-type with it---won't be that nice but it should be a nice looking combo to take to the strip.................Dan _________________ I don't think I have ever had a car that was "FINISHED"........unless it was totaled.
My shop teacher is a turbo buick guy, he told me he wanted to do that to my car with some parts he had and I thought that would be weird, but the fact is- THAT IS A SICK CAR, AND I WANT ONE!!! _________________ I know what you're thinking, why not a Corvette? I have talked extensively with roger the guy that built the car . He did all the body work and the owner "can't rember his name" did all the drive train. The owner use to be a buick tech somewhere in fla. Roger told me the guy spent about 10 grand on the wiring harness in that car. He also said that pictures do it no justice and that it is probally one of the fastest street cars he'd ever been in. It has a complete plug and play set up he can adjust boost, timing and fuel pressure puls other various items riding down the road with his laptop. The guy reall knows his stuff obviously . _________________ AMERICAN MUSCLE KICKIN BUT SINCE DAY 1 !!! 1988 IROC Z 388 TUNEDPORT 1986 SS ELKY GRAND NATIONAL LT1

Who is 86 ss grand camino and how do you know roger? Roger is a great guy and yes he did do all of the body work on the grand camino. I am Al Shapiro and I had dreams and plans of converting an el camino into a buick grand national and if it weren't for roger it would still be just a dream. He is probably the greatest custom metal worker around today. The guy can do anything. With a screen name of 86 ss grand camino, do you also have a converted el camino into a buick GN? Maybe we can get together and share stories.
Welcome to the site Al. Now that you are here hopefully you can share some build info and never before seen pics of that beautiful ride. _________________ 84 Elky with 455 Buick, Tremec TKO600 5 speed, 8.5 3:42 posi -

When I was building the car I was really concerned about traction because of the HP that the engine puts out (600) and the fact that the el camino is so light in the back end. With this being on my mind I did about everything conceivable to the suspension. The rear has variable rate springs with air bags 20 psi in the right and 12 psi in the left, adjustabe upper control arms, lowered billet lower control arms to change the instant center, 1 1/2 " sway bar, QA-1 12 way adjustable shocks, pinion snubber, axle stabilizers and for alittle added help a 1/4" thick 3X5 rectangle steel that runs frame rail to frame rail full of lead for a ballast of 165 lbs. There isn't that much done to the front - QA-1 12 way adjustable shocks, poly bushings and sway bar removed. The car hooks really good. enough to lift the front wheels off the ground on a strong launch if the tires have been heated. The tires on the front are the old VW 15" tires anf the back are Mickey Thompson ET slicks 275-50-15. I had nittos on the rear before and the Mickeys hook better if heated but for normal street driving w/o heating I think the Nittos are better.
Hi Al , Yes i am building a somewhat version of your car although i don't know if it will ever be as nice as yours. I saw the car on the site here and there was a link to a magizine artical on your car. After a little research and a few phone calls i was able to track down roger and he was nice enough to let me know that i was on the right track as to how to do the conversion on the front end . Roger is very sharp told me exactly what i would run into with this project and he was dead on. He also gave you a lot of praise about your ablities with the project while you were building it . Anyway glad to have finally spoke with you and yes i do hope that we can get to gether some time, roger did mention that you and he do get out to the car shows everynow and then, when i get mine on the road i would love to get up with you for a ride. _________________ AMERICAN MUSCLE KICKIN BUT SINCE DAY 1 !!! 1988 IROC Z 388 TUNEDPORT 1986 SS ELKY GRAND NATIONAL LT1
