About to enter into an engine swap on my '87, going from 305 to 350, newer block with one piece rear seal, Vortec heads. I would like to use "shorty" headers... Anybody have experience with this application, which set will work easily???

I think you will find that most of the Shorties on the market are a simple straight forward bolt on. It's the long tube headers that can be a nightmare on installation. _________________ http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_CoyoteOn2s77Cage.html

Your welcome Rocky! I have a question ~~~~ What's this NuB (new to the site) stuff? That has NO BEARING on anything here at ECC. WE HAVE all been there. The only thing that you should be concerned about is the FACT that your an El Camino OWNER / ENTHUSIAST, AND YOU HAVE BECOME A member OF THE GREATEST SITE there is for the El Camino. So WELCOME! And yes, Long tubes can be a pain, I have them on my 454 in my 77. Enjoy the ride ~~~ and visit often. You will find answers from any one of the Great members here, and most are willing and Eager to share. One last thing ~~~~ POST lots of Photos, we all love Photos, _________________ http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_CoyoteOn2s77Cage.html

Shorties would obviously be easier and less expensive if you plan to reuse the existing exhaust. Even nice fitting full lengths are more work. It's all in what you want. I prefer coated full length for performance, sound & looks.

Well Larry & Al,
Seems to be a very comfortable site I've stumbled upon. Thanks!
I'm ordering the crate motor from Phoenix, just trying to get all my ducks in a row. It's been a long process to this point, and the motor will be a major component out of the way...
I have found this site to be a wealth of knowledge, a real gold mine,
Thanks again for the red-carpet welcome!
