hey just wondering if any one has seen or knows where to buy the actual turbo for a sbc turbo swap, i have seen all the mounting and exhuast for the setup but not the turbo it self... i almost bought a 1970 c10 swb a couple years ago that had a turbo on a 400sbc never thought to ask the guy how and where he got the stuff but anyways just wondering _________________ tim fraley
If you can find a place that sells the turbo manifolds and what not I'm sure they'll be able to sell you or suggest a turbo to mate with it. You dont need a specific turbo for it. The most specific thing you'll need for any turbo project is the piping really.

'You might wanna consider forged crank, rods and pistons."
id prolly only be running 4-5 pounds with 8.5:1 pistons but of course the forged pieces and good rings and carb and what not for crazier apps would be a must. not to mention rear end and tranny beefage. but yeah i am throwing around which direction im am gonna go with the motor this summer a turbo or a NA motor what do you guys think? _________________ tim fraley
If you have the money and can do it do the turbo. It is a very efficient way to make power, IF YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK! _________________ 1979 el camino 355ci sbc, t56 viper trans, grand national 8.5 rear

i looked in to STS's universal kits and talked to the carb/turbo specialist. they are remote turbo systems..theeesse are insane...i am doing it lol..you can mount them any where...we are talking werid stuff..to name a few.. a stock cam is ideal or even less..staggering rockers 1.5-1.6 no need for intercoolers or even copper head gaskets..! they run 60% cooler than front mount turbos no need for intercoolers..and get this..they build better power faster..you actually want a higher compression piston with these we are talking 9.5:1 to 11:1 it sounds insane but i talked to the guy i have a kit already set up..its gonna be good for 760 at the crank and 633 plus at the wheels.. for 2100 bucks..and as low as $1900 for this littlest turbo which ONLY puts 520ish at the wheels lol..and because they run cooler they dont put as much strain on the engine. i am still doing all forged rotating assymbly but for the price it cant be beat..plus...its super sleeper..you pop the hood where is turbo? just some funky down pipe lol dont belive me give them a call.. _________________ tim fraley
