Hey guys haven't been on the site for a while, about to start back up on my 70 el camino project. Quick question on 02 LS1 single fuel rail system. Since there is no return line was wondering if the fuel system is as simple as a single fuel line with new tank and single tube sending unit and inline fuel pump. If anyone has got some insight on the whole issue of not having a return line that would be helpful.

My understanding there is a return line. But it is in the back just after the fuel pump. It allows fuel to continuously flow cooling the fuel pump. I don't know how it is setup though to make sure that the fuel going to the motor at pressure. Yes, in the stock application the pump has a regulator and return built in. I used a in-line pump and ran that line to a corvette filter/regulator, then you have your return and pressure lines. i ran the return back to the tank, and the pressure line up to the rail. Note that return-less EFI fuel systems are also done by modulating the electrical supply to the pump based on a fuel pressure sensor. I cannot tell you if this is the path chosen by GM for the LS1 or not, but I figure if Ford can do it then GM cannot be too far behind. _________________ Project: '68 El Camino SS 396 clone w/4spd

I run 04 Ls1 semi return system which is considered stock.A walbro 255lph is in the tank ,it pumps to a Corvette fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator located close to the tank . I think it maintains 45psi and returns unused fuel to the tank. This will work well if your F.I. is PWM ( pulsed width modulated) instead of a vacum operated fuel pressure regulator. _________________ Original owner. "04" LS1. 4L60E. GN 8.5 3.73's. Eaton posi.
