Strange....riding along listening to radio or CD player then either the hard shift from shift kit in tranny or hit a bump and sound goes off. Radio or CD shows it still playing but no sound. Turn off the radio and turn it back on and works fine until next bump, then no sound again. Any ideas on what to look for? After market Clarion CD player.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,if the problem isn't in the head unit itself it's possible the speaker wires are shorting to the body or together. Could be causing the amp in the head to shut down. Turning it off and on resets it if the short is no longer present.

Thanks,

It could also be that your CD player needs to be fixed/replaced. Next time it goes out, try switching back to the radio instead of turning the head unit off right away. If the radio plays, my guess is the laser on the CD player isn't recovering from the bump it gets like it was designed.
