I agree with rbohm. I'm gettin ready for a new 383 engine and 2.5" dual exhaust. An ex-stock car driver just told me the H pipe for my modified daily driver will bump the horse power a few horses. I didn't get the details but it has to do with the fact that the valves open at different times causing different pressures at different times in both sides of the manifolds or headers.

Without a crossover, this means one side begins to lose
the pressure and horsepower before the other side pressurizes. Although this happens very quickly, it still occurs and doesn't allow the horsepower to hold long enough to be used.

Since the H and X pipes connect both sides of the engine/exhaust, the pressures are more equalized, consistant, and steady. This limits the pressure drops which holds (or makes) horsepower.

The more modified the engine the more horsepower but unless you have active lead foot you will likely not feel the difference. The point is - why let it go out the exhaust when it can go to the tires.
