So I came to thinking of some fun things I could put on my El Camino and it hit me, how about Sneakers! (For those who do not know, sneakers are a special valve that is installed by your exhaust system specialist, where, when a lever or cable is pulled, it directs the exhaust down a different, often short tube, so you are running just open headers) Any ideas how much this runs for, or do you think it all depends on the mechanic (I already know of some really good guys that would do it)

P.S. I would use these for car shows and for waking up the parking lot before school starts... Happy

Never heard them called sneakers, "cutouts" is all I've ever heard. They can be as simple as a pipe welded in with a removable cap all the way up to electrically controlled units.

The electric ones cost from 250 to 400 bucks for the valves and controls. I used the less expensive ones and installed them myself. got about 300 in parts and half a days work on a buddies lift in mine.

Oh I like your's.... I think I am either going to go with the electronically controlled or the manual ones that you open with a lever of cord or whatever

i think the pull string ones are the way to go if you are budget-minded. they look pretty cool aswell, just pull a string and thats it. I saw some for 50 bucks a piece. thats a good deal.
either way you go, its still gunna sound bad rear end.
good luck,
Spencer

Turns out the cable ones are crap and don't seal well... My exhaust guy told me to save my money for the electronic ones and some cutoff pipes and he would do everything for $50
