I looked at a rear end forsale the guy said was from a Gran National but I think it was the wrong housing with the finger indents on either side of the cover along the bottom edge. Its been a couple day and I didn't write it down but I think the stamping was " 2AC 0 300 " it also had a limited slip tag under a cover bolt. Any ideas what gear or housing ?

I don't have the decode numbers for GN's but I thought someone on another thread said the GN's came with 3.23's as one of their axle options. I know camaro's and firebirds of that era had that ratio as standard with 3.73's as options on the Higher end packages.

I see you have a 69 elky in your ID, a GN rear end will not be compatable with a 3rd gen elky anyway..
Yeah I need to fix my sig I have a 69, 79, and 85 the rear would be for my 85 because I plan on doing a tranny update to a 200r4 or a 350 turbo and get rid of the piece o crap th200.
EDIT:
I tried to update my sig but there is only one spot for model years so 69 it is......... it was the best year anyway !

Did a little snooping online and found out the dealer option codes for the axle offerings in a Grand National.
Here they are:
GM8
axle ratio; 2.56:1
GU4
3.08:1 optional axle ratio
GU5
3.23:1 optional axle ratio
So it's likely one of those. The 2:56 would likely be for the autocross sort of GN owner or something...
on another site I see a mention of a 3:42 axle avaliable as well. Here's a list of RPO codes and the axle stampings. THese should be in the ballpark..
THis is for the 78 to 88 model years
