am Post subject: Melted AC Shroud
hey guys, i wasnt quite sure how to label this right but i hope that works
i have an 85 Caballero.
so back when i was replacing my engine, i didnt tighten down the hose clamp for the fuel line to the carbuerator. it came off while i was driving and spit into the distributer, causing a pretty bad fire. well, this caused the AC shroud to melt a little around the heater core pipes.
well it didnt really damage anything inside there but it left a hole that rain can just fall into and straight through the heating ducts into the passenger side floor.
now the fire caused the top of the shroud to melt away creating a large gap right above.
so what im asking is, does anybody know what i could use to cover this hole? i was thinking of maybe fabricating some fiberglass to fit in there but im not entirely sure if i could get it to stick in there. the last thing i want to do is replace the entire shroud, so does anyone have any idea?
appreciate the help, also hope i picked the right board topic to post this in.

If you can fabricate a piece of thin metal to fit the area, you could use pop rivets to secure it. Use some caulk around the holes and edge of the metal before riveting it in place. Aluminum pop rivets take less force to pop and would have a better chance of not pulling thru plastic. A little hard to tell if this could be done from the pictures, just a thought.
