Hey, my 305s have at least 65-67 HP. Something must be wrong with yours. 305s know when you are dissing them. They can read too.

I towed my M3 on my dual axle trailer with my 85 elco all the time and it handled just fine. At no point did my brakes ever feel weak, I don't know why people say that the brakes are weak, has anyone ever boiled their brake fluid on an ELCO? With new brake fluid? That would be the only reason the brakes would be weak, if it's just because the vehicle requires a little more brake pressure, you just need better brake pads, not the 15.99 Autozone asbestos specials.

Highly recommend airbags in place of air shocks, external tranny cooler, and MUST have trailer brakes (because anything thats heavier than the tow vehicle needs em, not because elco brakes are weak). I don't know about pulling out of the boat ramp, can't help you on that one.

I agree with everything archerm3 said---the brakes on the el camino are fine but trailer brakes are always required and even more so when a towed vehicle exceeds the weight of the towing vehicle...............Dan
