S-10 wheels fit the Elky?

I really like the looks of the newer style S-10 ZQ8 wheels.

These have five straight flat machined spokes and they are size 16X8.
Has anyone on this site used these wheels on a 5th generation El Camino?
If so, did you have any clearance problems?

I would like to run a set of these on my 82 IF they fit OK and IF I can even find a set without having to buy brand new ones.

I read somewhere the centers would have to be enlarged slightly to go over the Elky hubs but thats all I know so far.
Anyone have any experience with these wheels?

I'm using them.

there's a ridge in the center you will need to machine down to fit over the G-body/older S-series style hubs. I used a coarse sanding drum in a high speed drill to remove the material, then used fine to smooth it a little, then hand sanded with 120 grit, then wet sanded with 400. It took me an hour to do all 4, but I'm a perfectionist.

I used 1 coarse drum per wheel, and 1 fine drum per 2 wheels.

you may hear of using a router with a flush cut bearing tip bit to completely remove the ridge, and it will do just that perfectly, BUT, if you remove the ridge all together then the hole will be too big, and will be a loose fit over the hub, putting the vehicle's weight on the lugnuts instead of the hub. therefore the sanding drum method is best, just keep test fitting as you go.

Thanks for that info!
Just a few of more questions though.
What size tires are you running with these wheels and do you have any rubbing of either the tire OR the rims on the upper A arms or anywhere else?
Has your Elky been lowered in front?
Any chance you could post pics of it with these wheels on it?

I think I've posted on this before. I swapped in a set of S-10 mid 80's 15" rallys on my '85. The ride/handling/looks improved a bit (fills in the wheel well nicer). I sprayed them black, filled in the slots silver edges (grooves are in them), found the chrome rings ( Montes I believe ?, easy find ) the caps fit and they look original. http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_album393.html

Older s10 wheels fit, newer ones need that mod.

Anyway, I just put the ZQ8s on today. on the rear anyway. The tires are 205/55/R16
