My headers are both in but I have come to have trouble with the ac bracket. I took it off and now there is no way it is going back on, it wont clear the header. My AC is on the drivers side. It seems like this bracket is redundant and like it would still be ok without it. What are my options?

I remember seeing a drawing of a modified bracket to use with headers. I cant remember if it was notched to clear over the header tube or cut to where it only used the front bolt to hold the bracket on. There might be a pic of the drawing on Hookers website in the downloadable instructions.

If you have Adobe Reader installed on your PC you can go on www.summitracing.com and look up the listing for Hooker Headers for your 86, at the bottom of the listing you'll find the installation instructions in pdf format...it shows you how to trim the bracket. I believe you can also get them off Hookers website.

Well what seems to be the trouble? There must be some other issue then what the instructions address.

I cut a chunk out of my AC bracket when I installed headers on my '85. Welded it back together when I removed the headers.
