First off i liked to say Hello and thanks for having me.
My name is Herb im 28 out of jersey, to be honest Im a Ford guy and currently working on my streetbike trying to get my busininess up (Powder Coating), but anyhow My grandpop gave me his 86 El Camino a couple years ago and its running but needs a rebuild or new motor not sure what i wanna do yet (V6 w/TB think its a 286?). The body is 98% rust free and no damage to anything but the inside of the bed (few dents and scratches). Intereior is all original also nothing ripped or torn everything works.
Im hoping to get some good info from all of you here and make my restoration even easier. I should have some pics up soon of her as she sits now.

Herb

OMG THAT'S HORRIBLE!!! That's craziness, total madness, it's like cats partying with dogs...it's just not done! It's scary! It's a conflict of interest. It's absurd...total nuttiness! To quote a famous duck "Your despicable!" But....soon you will see the light and your past will be forgiven...the evilness shall be cast out and ye shall be redeemed! Can I get a Amen my bretheren. In the meantime welcome to ECC! Cool PS I tend to over react at times and don't look in my driveway...there's a Ford parked in it.

Welcome Herb. You you can see there is the odd nut on here (My baby is actually a Mopar Embarassed ) but we all come together in a common interest - El Caminos. Poke Tounge

I am sure everything you need to know about your '86 will be forthcoming right here at ECC.

Welcome Herb, never mine these crazed Chevy guys, that's just the way they are. I secretly bleed Ford guys of their money so I can maintain my Chevy habit. Just say "Shelby" and the money roles out of there wallets. Cool
Anyway's true gearheads don't really care what they are working on just as long as they get their daily fix!! Shocked
Once you get going with the powder coating ceramic coating is the next step. That where the money is at.

Herb, your El Camino looks to be in good shape. Get those headlights replaced and remove that cassette holder on the dash and you are part way there Very Happy
