Some of this may have been covered but here's my experience. My driver's side interior door trim was losing it's chrome. I read here in a past post that Pep Boys had chrome tape. I bought this product, CHROME BRIGHT by Trim bright. It's 3 inches by 60 inches long. This stuff is great! Looks like real chrome. I had tried some other metal tape, think it was bright aluminum, forget it, don't use it.
Using a straight edge cut a one inch wide strip 49 inches long. You can lay the factory edge along the top edge of the door strip, smooth it down and cut the bottom edge with a sharp blade. On that 8 inch long curved piece at the front that sets at an angle, cover the entire strip and trim the edges. This tape will not lay flat on compound curves. The plastic trim you are covering needs to be stripped of old chrome and clean. I'm impressed with the look, hope it holds up. Doug

Yep.....thats the stuff.
Works good (even better if you have a helper....sticky stuff)
I had mine done for quite a while, held up good.
Just got my interior done in leather so I lost my chrome "strips"

Thanks ElDawgg for confirming how this product holds up. I just completed another little project with this stuff. Covered my curise control multifunction stalk with it. It's a lot of messing around on a part you can buy repro for $25.00 but I'm an artist and had to give it a go. You can pry the stalk out a bit to allow the chrome part to rotate somewhat. Made a cut around the washer thumb control and pulled off of the bad chrome that would come off leaving the chrome on the thumb control. I made paper patterns of the two cone-like shapes of the stalk and transfered that to the chrome tape. Looks like a factory chrome stalk. Not everyone will be succesful with this type of artsey job. But if you need to replace a nasty looking stalk, what do you have to lose? Doug

Okay LeoC2, Im going to give this pic thing a shot. Here is the type of pattern I used to cut the chrome tape to fit the chrome part of the stalk.

Made it in two parts for ease of
installation.

Edit: Yea!! I did it. After a couple of tries and running my mouse ragged on PhotoBucket and making this illustration and scanning it to the Mac. I can't be stopped now, I just might put my whole family on this site..LOL Laugh Doug

I've also found that silver/chrome high temperature mylar tape works well for door panel trim. Mylar is very thin, flexible and easily wraps around the molding and cuts cleanly with a razor knife. A 1" wide by 36 foot roll costs about $7.
