I am confused. Many El Camino parts sites stop at 1972. While other sites stop above 1974. Sometimes, it shows a Jeep sending unit. Other searches show this to be a $200 part. This seems out of line. The unit is simple. One fuel line and one vent. Swinging float hooked to a variable resistance. (90 OHM) Mesh fuel filter at the bottom.
Its a 1974 El Camino Classic with 350 and 2brl carb.
Just hard to find, and a bit more then other generations. I'm not quite sure what it is you're after but look here as an example for parts.... http://www.ecparts.net/mgastank.htm
Oh yeah, WELCOME to the site

What is it about the 4th gens that makes things harder to find and cost more?
I am just starting a resto on a 74 and it seems to be across the board for 4th gens.
Were the production numbers lower or something? _________________ Chris

Remember the early to mid seventies were when GM started using recycled steel ---with not too much sucess---remember the Vegas and pickups that would rust all the way to the roofs---is there a reason to think the same vintage El Caminos were less effected????? by 75 and 76 they had it fixed but there are a few years there that are mostly missing and so parts are scarce----just my opinion by the way..................Dan _________________ I don't think I have ever had a car that was "FINISHED"........unless it was totaled.

Maybe because it's a 26 gallon unit?
Were all 1974's 26 gallons? Or were there different sized tanks, by the way if it makes any difference mine originally came with a 400 sbc _________________ -Andrew, 1974 El Camino, finally a 350!
