I recently purchased a '71 Elky that has had an engine swap. The engine still has the original red, not orange, paint on the block and intake. The block is stamped CMJXXXX and the only listings I can find is that it may be a '72 350 police engine or a later model 305 van engine. The engine has a red 4-bbl Rochester intake that appears original.

If anyone has run into this type of engine, please give me an e-mail at abarron576@AOL.com.

Thanks in advance!

Casting numbers of the block are more likely going to help you out, not stamped numbers. Go to www.mortec.com to find out how to find the location of the casting numbers and what they are.
