am Post subject: Cut-off exhaust. So close!
Only about 100 dollars more and I finally will be able to get them. I am going to get regular cut off pipes to attach to my exhaust system and get electronic opening systems and have my exhaust guy install them.
So that brings me to this, how loud is a crate 350 uncorked? like compared to something else? _________________ The Blue Beast

Well, I drove my Mustang over to the exhaust shop with open headers....at 7:30 in the morning....on a Saturday... And I can say that even being VERY easy on the throttle, cruising at like 20-25 when using the throttle, I couldn't think straight, it's just unbelievably loud. After I got to the place, my butt was almost numb from the vibrations on the floorboard and my hearing wasn't so good. Better hope you never have em open with a cop around! _________________ It's not the prettiest, but it's all mine....

I was driving my '72 caprice with 454 and one of the exaust
fell off, I pulled over put it in the trunk, when I drove home it sounded
like drag race car, I cant imagine what it would of sounded like with both off. I dont know about a 350 but Im sure its very loud,
and will make evry one look at you like WTF. The electric cutouts are cool, because you can open them up, then close them for quick off the line added power.

currently I have been running the blown 454 with the exhaust cut outs open ( took them off to show a perspective buyer as he thought it sounded a little tame for a 454 and I hate putting them back on) , and yes waiting for the cops to knock on the door as I live in a small country town i get those goggled eyed stares from the younger kids and the angry looks from the normal people. and every time i start it both my 2 young girls cry so as much as I love it they will be going back on soon, crazy crazy noise and i love it but we do have to think of other people.............
Mine sit is under the doors area and have a plate i manually remove when it gets taken down the strip.. _________________ 71 El Camino super charged 454

In my ElCo, I am running a 69 block, with a slightly aggressive cam and long tube headers. I did the V6 to V8 swap and haven't decided on what kind of exhaust I'm going with (side pipes, duals, single, etc.).
Anyway, the long tube collectors are just about at the fron of the floor where the pedals are. All I can say is that your ears will be punished anywhere from idle up. It only takes a few seconds for my feet to start tingling and my butt to go numb.
I have a Vette with a 468 and side pipes, a Firebird with 455 and 2.5 inch straight throughs and the ElCo. Without a doubt, the ElCo blows the others away!! There is simply no way that I'd ever drive that car like that on the street.
There wouldn't be a silent car alarm for 3 blocks!! And that's just crepping along at idle.
However, if you go that way, please send me a sound clip!! _________________ Excuses are the tools of the incompetent!
