heyo all !! first thing i want to do is thank all of the members of this board for the info i have got from here !! it has saved me countless hours of head scratching and surfin !! anyhoo my handle is vandal and im from oregon [yes i was part of the cb craze] i recently aquired a 82 el camino 305 4bbl ps pb pw air tow pkg 145,000 miles and light blue flakey paint. but no rust and very few dents !!
WARNING LONG STORY AHEAD !
ok heres the long version of how i scored a el camino !!
was at work when a fellow employee came back from lunch all pi***d off at his son, seems he got hisself arrested agin for curfew violations...
so he offers me this story and deal... seems kid gets his permit and asks dad for car dad says yes he wants a (shudder) honda ! dad comes home with el camino, kid finally gets the idea it could be kool ! so makes deal with dad good grades and a job gets him the camino, kid does good for a while then loses job for being smartass ! [imagine that !] fails english, gets grounded away from camino.. anhoo this happens several times and in the interim he goes through the camino and says hmm, gunna replace the radio riiip snipp oops wrong wires oh well, hmm dont need guages in dash gunna add new ones riiip snap, hmm new lenze, oh well, hmm interior is worn riiip sniip and no interior! hmm not gunna need that working air, riiip snip whoops cut too many wires, hmm gunna get rid of the smog stuff riiipp.....on and on... ah well gunna replace all anyhoo !! when daddy find this out BOOOOOOM comes over and offers me it for $ 100 !! shwiiing !! put a radiator, battery and fixed some wires and drove it home... ok this is when i discover this site !! woooot ! the camino came with the rally wheels and decent tires, nuthin special, last week im droolin over some wheels in a zine when my boss asks me if i have a set of stock tires and wheels.. huh? seems he sold his s10 and the buyer doesnt like the wheels on it and has purchased a new set and didnt want the set on s10 upshot i traded stock wheels for a set of A/R 17" polished five spoke with 225/50r17 ohtsu zexius tires !! scooore !! they fit and look good !! drove it up to cousins for first drive and discovered the motor is on its last legs, oh well what do u expect for $100, cousin steps up and says he has old 350 hes willin to give me says its got 30k on a rebuld with rv cam performer manifold.. load motor get it home decode casting number 3970010 !! pull pan 4 bolt mains !! forged crank !! 624 heads (boo) but its from a corvette !! Scooore !!
i am now prepping the motor and engine bay for swap (hopefully this weekend)

thanks for the welcome all !! in the last weekmore freebies were given me !! 3 10" subs a friend gave me after upgrading... another one gave me some chrome valve covers..... got a edelbrock 600 cfm carb.... 5$ a five cd player for 2$ ... pays to be nice to niebor with garage sale.... ive never named a vehicle before... but what do yall think of....... FREEBIE !!
