Most of us can remember the lakes pipes we installed on our 50s and 60s cars to make them look cool. I still think of my old 1951 ford with them, and ran them untill they started passing out tickets for the noise. I have been wondering if any one here has installed them on their El Camino and where a person can purchase them. I am seeing a lot of them lately, they must be making a come back. "Just thinking"

Mine are functional side pipes, not lake pipes. I bought the Patriot Side pipes from Summit Racing.
Click on the Homepage link below for more pictures.

Boy, they look great and I think I might just find a good set and install them on my El. I have thought about them for some time but without seeing them on an El could not justify them.
Thanks for the input, Roger

I built my side pipes out of 3" 304 stainless steel TIG welded with Argon back purged inside pipe. The pipes from the headers back are 2-1/2" 304SS with SS Magna Flow mufflers. The welds on the side pipes are pollished so none of the welds are visible and look clean. I have many pictures in the gallery. I'm retiring this fall and plan on making a little egg money making stainless exhaust and or side pipe like I have on Stir Crazy anyone interested, you know how to get in touch.

Give me a week and I'll have some updated photos of my '79 El Camino with the 77" chrome side pipes I'm installing.

Just put them together today, bit more work and I'll be breaking a few noise covenants.

Cool

77 inch? Did you fabricate them yourself?

Looking forward to the photos. Cool
