Howdy,
Been a fan of El Camino's since I was a teenager and almost twenty years later I found myself in a situation where I didn't need the kid hauler so terribly much any longer (got the wife a Yukon) and when it came to picking up something for myself I decided to go after a 'fun' car for myself.
The wife still gives me hell about it, but she smiles whenever I get to playing with the car so I expect she doesn't care too much.
Anyhow, picked up a 1979 El Camino, has a 350 in it which I'm currently looking at switching out to a 502 or possibly just saying to heck with it and putting an LS6 into it. In pretty good shape, turns more than a few heads (I have to admit that is fun) and I find myself more often than not getting nods from the older crowd and the kids trying to race me down the streets (funny enough, I seem to stomp most of them .. heh). For some reason I keep getting pulled over by the police as well, but so far its only to check me out and I've gotten out of any real inconveniences!
Pictures are from earlier this year and have had some changes since then, more notable is that I went with limo tinting on all the windows but the front, which I just did a top strip across(waiting to get in trouble with that, so far so good though), have personalized the tag (hey, ya gotta!) and I just put together my set of 77" inch chrome side pipes which I should be mounting on the vehicle later this week and expect to break a few noise covenants with.
Yeah, I'm that guy ... buy hey, I've been after this vehicle for twenty years almost, gotta play!
Chrome for the most part has been removed completely from this machine as I'm going for a sleeker and meaner look, all the extra chrome just doesn't do it for me personally, though I think they do look good on other folks vehicles.
Coils have been cooked as well so it is riding a couple inches lower (have 'some' concerns about tearing off those side pipes but we'll see) and it is running on Craiger SS Rims which I'm pretty happy with.

A big Aussie welcome to ECC from me too Tom. Very sharp looking 5th gen you have there. Sounds like you are a bit of a terror on the roads eh? Here in Australia they call drivers like you a "hoon"
Mate that is a really nice looking house in the background. Can I come and stay? Just kidding.
Looking forward to reading your posts here mate. _________________ John (from Down Under)
