anyone who buys an El Camino from them should be buried up to their neck and smacked around with a trout.

$14,000 for a 4.3 with 89k miles! It's clean, but I mean damn! most around here are clean. I won't have that much money in my car even after it's finished (that includes my original purchase price of $2500).

I have been to his place. It is packed with lots of nice Elkys. He sells them all over the world. The day we stopped in he pointed to one going to Germany and one on the way to New York City. You can trust the vehicle to be top quality. May of his customers buy them sight unseen.

He is not in a hurry to sell and he will never sell them cheap. He knows the inventory is going up in value sitting in his big old barn / garage. If you don't like his price just find a clean Elky somewhere else. The pool of super nice Elkys is limited. I did not buy anything from him but I admire the fact he is keeping the values high. If he can get 20 grand for a Elky that just makes mine more valuable.

Oh yes, good old BK. Out of curiosity and never ending quest for knowledge, Laugh I called them up about a year ago and spoke to a gentleman there about the '78 SS they had (and still have) priced at just under 30K. He seemed OK and friendly, a bit reluctant to talk in detail as to how they arrived at some of those numbers and the Elkie market in general etc, I did mention that nice and more desirable EC '69-'71 SS muscle could be had for similar or less $$ and he agreed ! Also if you frequent the site periodically you will see the same merchandise for yrs...interesting

Cool My wifes uncle (dads brother) bought a beautiful 83 Elcamino from them. Really clean low mileage truck. Had all the documentation, was a one owner and looked like a new car in and out!
He gave a very inflated price for it but he said he didn't care because it was what he had always wanted. His old boss that owned the trucking company he retired from had an identical one that he would never sell to him.
Well to make a long story short his new girlfriend (now wife) whom was my first steady in Jr High, decided she didn't want to be seen in the ugly old thing as she called it. So up for sale it went!
Took almost 2 years to sell it (was still in great shape with only about 7,000 more miles on the clock) and when it did sell he took a 5 grand hit to sell it! Shocked
I would have kept it before I lost that kind of money, but then I wouldn't have given 16,500 for it either! Sad

I stated my opinion of Bethany Kars four years ago. Read it here.

Some of the prices are high because they restore them, not that there a hundred point car but I would say 90. If any one says they have a 90 point car's thats just as valuable, than there's some show trophys that you have. I've had some of my other classics I've owned in car shows, & I feel it's either how well its restored to stock, (oem) & the desirablity of the particular model, or the custom models can have great work and tons of money into upgrades and performance parts on them. Then when you have a complete frame off restoration by a repuable body shop, you have added value from the documentation of the work on the vehicle, all most any classic is going to go for top dollar at that point. Of course this is real life, so no po dunk jo is going to be able to sell his car for top dollar, because he does not have the ability that a good classic auto sales company does. The sales company have wide spread advertising, a reputation, a client base, and they can even finance you, not to mention they have a lot of sales experience. Bottom line is it takes a experienced restoration shop, to finish a classic that people know is quality, then to the customer its worht it to have a car thats backed by a waranty, & a name with history.
If your conserned about the price when you buy a classic ,either your planning on rebuilding it, or at least some ongoing minor work, because the people who go to shops to buy a classic are looking for a certain model and quality, & the price is not the final determaining factor rather to buy or for them to look for a cheaper model. Cheaper models of a desired classic will often have more problems-you get what you pay for. There arent many more cars out there that are low miles and in mint condition sitting in gramas garage. (I prefer rebuilding them for experience, but if I was rich I'd buy a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 frame off rest.)

Yes Im new to this forum- kinda easy to see by my number of posts, this is my first 1978 Elcamino I've owned, so I joined this forum but,
in the past I was part of other groups/clubs/forums, for my '66 classic rambler, 1965 impala, 1981 corvette, 1972 caprice, & a 1972 vw bus.
I have sold all of them after years of owning, all were fun, I made many mods on all of them the impala had over 20,000$ with reciepts, the vette over 15,000$, I would repleace every thing, add upgraded parts, after market stereo's, & rims, on all of my cars. I got this El Cam by a straight trade over form a lot, I gave them a 1994 Q45.
This forum is pretty cool.

Well I would say your wrong with all of that. If you have a good looking mint and run great you can sell it for as much as they do. Well one thing is I know they ripe people off big time. Take a look at this link
The El Camino is better then mint with pin stripping. The car is beautiful and only sold for 13 grand. So to tell me that they can sell a 1982 Chevrolet EL CAMINO CONQUISTA with 90 thousand miles with for 14,995.00 is crazy. I know they are know world wide as the best El Camino place in the world, but still if you look around you can find better El Camino on the web even if you live out of the county. They are just a joke and a ripe off. I would never tell anyone to buy from them and I hope no one does.

Tuggy, I've been trying hard to hold my tongue here, but you comment on just about every subject on this site with an obvious lack of experience. Exactly how many cars have you bought from Bethany's? None? Then how do you know they're a rip off? Some folks have no problem paying a premium to get the best for they're dollar, cars or otherwise. Tell me Tuggy, I just ordered the most expensive ignition parts for my Elk, did I get ripped off? You go around advising people what engines they should buy, then in another thread you ask what carb numbers mean (CFMs). Not trying to attack you, but give us a break man.

I learned a long time ago that there is a seat for every a*%hole & an a#@hole for every seat....
If someone is happy with what they buy, why would they complain?

No point in complaining for them... They are the happy ones.
