I'm gonna try and get a 1971 ss. I would greatly appreciate any input, advice, tips or info. I want to learn everything I can about it, I want to be camino smart. I have been looking at alot of specs and stuff but only owner can know the good stuff so please let me know.

First, welcome to ECC, Casey. One important thing to look for with a 37 year old car, particularly in your part of the country, is rust. True enough it can be repaired or replaced but there comes a point when it is just too much. You may have already thought about if you are going to hold out for a documented Super Sport or if a clone will do. It will take a build sheet to document it so don't pay extra without proof. Here is a 71 that I bought, advertized as a SS, obviously not. I did not pay SS money and it was not a big deal for me. After changing it over to a big block, I parted ways with it for rust issues.
