Does anyone know what the stock color is for an 86 305? Also is the windshield washer fluid tank clear or painted? The 86 I bought yesterday has gold paint on the valve covers and at one time the radiator overflow tank and washer fluid tank were painted gold then someone painted them under hood black. I don't think I will have any trouble using paint stripper on the tanks, it shouldn't hurt the plastic. I have to replace valve cover gaskets so I might as well paint them while I have them off. thanks for any help.

GM went to black engines around 1985. Prior to that the engines were corporate blue, which began sometime in the late seventies. Prior to that they were Chevy Orange.

Windshield Washer tanks are clear (so you can see the fluid level). I have three of them if you need one. Email me at Jvezzosi@lt1conversion.com if you are interested. Thanks.

Jon
