Heh, yeah... I get that all the time as well... I've got 6" holes rusted in my rear quarter pannels... but with my paint-scheme, you have to get within 5 feet to see them.... People think it's in mint condition, and still don't complain when they get close
I get alot of offers on my Oldsmobile Toronado too... which... is a money pit, I'd sell it if it weren't such a luxury...
I had a girl pull up next to me in a brand-new, fire-truck red Monte-Carlo SS, and she couldn't stop staring at my car, was throwing Peace signs at me for some odd reason

That's why my tag line is "An El Camino ='s a comment" either they want to buy it or they ant to know why did or tell me why they didn't - my wife thinks its neat to have a truck that strangers will just come up to you to talk about - she didn't really know what an El Camino was - she has been enlightened

Old post...getting lost in the archives. Lets bring it back. Ive had them all. 5k offered 2 in one week at the same gas station, the lust notes wanting to purchase, a mustang full of girls that gave me a site to see and a number to call on my way home from school. Although it was not an offer of purchase, it panned out well. I must say that my favorite was getting a thumbs up on the way home from school one time from a gentleman in a bright red Ferrari with paper plates. I love this car. I can't imagine another car like it. God bless the original SUV!!! _________________ TwiSSted Bowtie

Had someone offer me a 70 cougar convertible for my 86 years ago. Should have taken him up on the offer the difference in value was quite a bit but my elk's been in the family since it was purchased new. And I'm sure it will be that way till my 2 yr old gets it when he's old enough. _________________ 86 elk being restored

Had a young man tell me today he really liked my E/C. Made me feel good. I guess the wax job me & my younger son labored over the other day caught his eye. _________________ 1986 El Camino "Conquista" 305 V8 4BBL Automatic
its a great feeling to be 17 years old, and having a car that older guys come up to you and compliment, or ask to buy, im not afraid to admit im completely big headed over my car, haha,
i reall dont have respect for (daddy buy me this kids). if you saved your own monye that you worked hard for then you have my respect. i was kicked out of my house at 17 sent to another state AZ and didn't no jack Potty Mouth about anything. i tought my self the value of a dallor, paid my rent and bills fead and clothed my self and saved my monye well doing all this without selling drugs or stealing at 18 i bought my first car be for that i had may be 3-4 hours of driveing experience it was a 89 lincolin town car. i love this car i still got it too it would give a stock 5th gen all it wanted on the highway and it turned heads it was the nices one in tucson with a sound system worth twice as much as the car i also bought a 69 vw bus the girls loved that bus. sold it to get my elky
now im 20 with a black on black 1968 el camino i just bought 7 days ago cash 3400 of my hard earned monye well 700 was a loan which will be paid off in a month and a half.
i havent took it out all to much (no insurence yet )but i did have a older guy almost trip over his own feet crossing the street looking at my elky _________________

The original SUV. Sexy Unique Vehicle. You can hear mine from 2 blocks away, so they are already curious when i come into view. _________________ As loud as the devil and as fast as greased lightning. Too cool for school and too hot to handle.
Most people love my El Camino, but there has been only a few people who say they would buy it for $.... I always say I am not selling sorry. I am really supriced how people want mine so bad over other gen elky around me. _________________ El Camino Nation the second best El Camino forum on the web http://elcamino.freeforums.org/portal.php
Have only had my Elco for a few months now and it definetely draws a lot of attention as you do not see very many here in Hawaii....especially those that are not completely rusted out. Mostly the older "hot rod" crowd can appreciate what it is.
Funny thing is I have 85 shell complete with interior (no motor or trans) and people are offering $300 for it....WTF, this car has no rust anywhere that I can locate, in the bed, under the hood, the smugglers box, nowhere.
Guess I will hold onto the other one as a "parts car". _________________ Aloha and have a great day!
