I must say, though I have not tried it, that if gunk routinely gets caught up in the thermostat during a flush...


Just remove it prior! Might as well replace it afterwards with a new 'stat and seal anyhow. Crank the heater to full and flush baby flush! I bet that'd work best.

i just pop the cap off unscrew the plug turn the motor on put a runing water hose in it and leave it for like 15 minuets it probibly flushis 2 or 3 times, then turn it off wait till it all drains tightin the plug fill it with full strength prestone and a little water. mine was sitting for a year and a half be for i bought it the water was ugly rusty now its clean as can be Smile
