I have found them for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen cars before, but seldom for the 4th Gen, and never for the 5th Gen. 1959, 1965 and 1970 seem to be the most popular. I have seen a few '71 - '72's around, but not lately.
I have a 1/24th scale of a 3rd Gen ('65) that I bought way before I started rebuilding the real thing. Still trying to find a 5th Gen that I can paint to match my car. I figured it would be a nice conversation piece in my garage.
My guess is they weren't considered very collectible, so there isn't much of a demand for them. I would searched the Internet for 1/18th, 1/24th and 1/25th scale, those seem to be the most popular sizes. You can also find them in 1/64th scale (much smaller).
There is an '87 die-cast model listed on eBay in 1/64th scale, and a '79 El Diablo plastic model in 1/25th scale.
Or search for "El Camino Model Dealer promo" on ebay. I have seen these dealer promo cars before, you may find one for an '87 if you look often enough. _________________

There used to be a 5 generation model but it was a low rider so to make a stock one you may have to do a little kit bashing. I've been out of the model thing for a few years now so I'm not even sure if it is still available.

There is a 1/24 model from Revell of the Choo-Choo, I see them at car shows all the time. I don't know of it's still being made though.
I also recently bought two dealer's sales models from a vendor at Carlisle. These are basic 1/24 plastic models fully assempled and very detailed inside and out.
By combining parts from the two models I'm actually getting close to creating one that looks just like my Elky. I just need to get the wheels from an S-10 model and I'm set.
At the rate I'm going though it will be 2015 by the time I'm done! _________________ Leo

I think I have both of these. I just picked up the '86 Choo- Choo SS at an Flea Market. Box was opened but everything is there. The other one I believe is a '78 or '79. I'll need to check on it tonight.

I think there was infact a 5th gen kit at one time, probably the low rider kit mentioned below. I know of a guy who built a replica of an 86 using the front grille from some rare kit. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for one myself to replicate my 84. I know that the 86 Choo-Choo is pretty common and easy to find, I have one that I have yet to build.
I was big into building since 98 but lost interest the past few years. The last project I started was a 68 Camino, it has been on the bench since late 2005. I just started back on it and will be sharing some photos soon.
Here is the engine for the 68 I am working on. Lots of work cutting loose all the pulleys.....just could not stand the kit part with tose way too out-of-scale belts.
Here are a couple past Camino builds I've done.
They did make an 83 or 84 with the eggcrate grill at one time I built it! But it was a Monster Truck (like BigFoot) kit. My Brother-in-law has it and won't let me have it back! _________________ "Still Just Truck'in"

[The kit you had was made by MPC co. Kit #1-0453 I still have one in the box it does have the chrome quad headlights so it could be made with the wheels from another kitI have about 5 diff. kits still in the boxes plus a larger remote control elky from radio shack jim
I put together a kit of a '79 a couple years ago. For me the cool thing was it came with a topper as well as tonneau cover, so I could check out the look of the yellow I planned to paint my El Camino and topper. The kit had low rider parts, but they were options to regular suspension and wheels.
Yeah I saw it and thanks for looking, but I am looking for a El Camino model car that is not a choo choo one. _________________ El Camino Nation the second best El Camino forum on the web http://elcamino.freeforums.org/portal.php
