A year ago i purchased an El Camino from a local dealer... 3500$ for a solid body...low rust...low miles and an audio system that shook the walls. I loved it. I would take it to drive-ins to show off along with parties and car shows. Anyways. About a week ago I came home from work with a drive way packed full with cars so i parked it in a street and though about moving it once people left. I ended up falling asleep and was awoken to the screech of tires. thinking it was nothing i went back to sleep and when i awoke my car was gone. We found it a day later a few miles away on blocks with nothing left but the frame, steering wheel and bench seat...
just a reminder to LOCK UP, park it in a garage and keep an eye on your el.
Sorry to read about your lose Wade. I have not had a car stolen, just a bicycle and a break in. But I know the feeling.
If you want a little adventure of a 1000-mile or so drive, I have an exceptional '85 for sale, needs nothing. Can pick up at DEN airport or help pay for shipping. Our home is available for an overnight or short stay. Do some sightseeing while here. Maybe more than you want to spend, but remember this Elky will be very dependable and more than up for a drive home. Link to my forum ad.

I live in a hood that has cars on blocks often, yet I dream of the day some one try's to break into my car. I watch, & so does my room mates, with fire arms close by. There is good reason why people should not try to break into a classic prized car, because they might be shot!
A basic car alarm is a good investment for any nice car, that may atract thieves.
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that.
if somebody ever did that to my car, I would hunt the SOBs who did it down _________________ 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback (Project Car)

I'm really sorry to hear that happened. G bodys seem to be frequently stolen.
I live in a good neigborhood but if anyone tried to take my elky, I would send them some warm lead so quick, even if I had to sacrafice my back window, they would never take her alive!(them, not by elky!) _________________ NRA
Bummer on your lose. I've never had my elky stolen but I did catch some fool trying to yank my stereo out of my 71' Charger once . I also had a tool box ripped. The guy stealing the stereo got caught by the cops and he had to stop off at the trauma clinic to get some b b's removed from his back side, on his way to jail. Guys, I'm sure most of use work for a living and have paid hard cold cash for everything we own. A Club cost $30.00 and is well worth the investment. It won't help for some knob stripping your car, but it will stop someone from ripping your ride from under your nose.
Sorry to hear about all your lose and I guess I am kind of lucky. Stuff like this does not happy much around me. People really respect other property and do not mess with it. So sorry to hear what happened and hope you find the guys who did it. _________________ El Camino Nation the second best El Camino forum on the web http://elcamino.freeforums.org/portal.php

The more time and effort I put in my elky, the more recurrent my nightmares are. I installed a good alarm that I have to turn off, cos I live in an avenue with a lot of bus and big trucks traffic, and every time one passes the alarm goes crazy! I shaved the door handles and locks, but I can't help being worried...
Wade, I'm sorry, I hope you can ...
jesus you guys are pretty visual when it comes to what you would do if someone stole your car... im constantly searching for remaining parts the only lead we have are the wheels however.

The reason for all the violent reaction is one you probably already know.
When some low-life, lazy, good for nothing, loser figures he's gonna pay for the next needle in his arm by stealing someone else's stuff there isn't much room for forgiveness.
I grew up moving around and money was hard to come by it still doesn't come to me easily. One thing that was instilled in me at an early age was to keep my hands off other people's stuff. If you want something figure out how to EARN it.
For someone to think they have the right to rip you off because you have something they want or are just too lazy to earn legitimately can drive just about anyone to commit murder.
I know of one youth that wouldn't have seen his 18th birthday if I could have got my hands on him. He stole a whole binder of software out of my car that I use for my work. It cost me 4K to replace and I still don't have all of it. Worse, I don't own a home so no help from home owner's insurance and my auto insurance, like most policies, didn't cover contents.

My elky was recently stolen by a joyriding bad-guy who was recently in prison. Thankfully the perp just drove down into Sacramento and even took the courtesy of backing into a driveway without dinging or crashing her! I had to put in some more gas, but apparently criminals are okay with newstalk 650 at ear-splitting volume...
