We are planning a weekend event and hope you can join us.
They just opened up a new Automobile Museum right off I-10 in Tallahassee FL. I was at this place in their old location years ago and it was a very cool place and then they only had half the stuff they have now.
Museum: http://www.tacm.com/
Cars: http://www.tacm.com/carmuseum/thecars.htm
If we have 10 people doing the museum tour we can get a group rate of $10 per person.
The Cabot lodge gave me a group rate of $69 per night, but i need an idea of how many rooms we will need. I will be talking to them the 1st week in August to set up the block of rooms.
The area i have selected is in the back of the motel away from the normal traffic and the rooms face where the cars will be parked so everything will be safe as possible.
If a few will be arriving Friday night i can set up a meet & greet dinner, if anyone is interested just let me know.
We can meet for breakfast about 8:30 either at the motel or at a near by Shoneys then get to the museum about 10:00.
The museum tour should take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, after the Museum tour we will head back to the Cabot Lodge. I have selected a nice shady area of the parking near the pool. My plan is to tow my smoker there and we can hang out with the cars or at the pool and cook-out.
We have the option of invading the local cruise-in at Sonic a few miles from the motel that evening or just hanging out.
Sunday morning we can meet for breakfast before heading home.
I have done something similar the last 2 years for the 4th generation Monte club but would love to have ALL generations on Monte Carlo’s & El Camino represented also.
This event is open to all generations of Monte Carlo's & ElCamino's so hopefully we can have a good showing.
If you need any more information or have any questions feel free to contact me.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely
Ken

Thanks for the compliment, they are both drivers so they look better in the pictures. LOL
FSU is away at Miami that weekend.
If they were home we wouldn't be able to get a motel room anywhere in town. _________________ 80 ElCamino / Blue-Blue 454-400 Trans

Here is a great opportunity for many of you to attent a fun event. In sending out lots of PM`s and emails for other events, many of you replied that you would attend if something was in you area. Here it is !! Those that don`t live too close , it can be a multiday event that would make a road trip worth a drive. I have family plans at that time that I cannot change and wished I could attend, where Monte Carlos and El Caminos were featured together. Remember that you do not have to have a show car or tricked out ride. Our cars are classics and some dirt and rust is just part of it`s history. Ken is spending a lot of time, energy and probably some of his own money to provide a fun opportunity for our members. The best way to support our sport , if possible, is to simply attend and have fun. Attendance at these events encourages people like Ken to put this effort in for us. Hope you will be able to go. _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.A true friend is sitting next to you saying " Damn, wasn`t that fun" !

Lenny,
Thanks for the kind words.
Trying to organize these events are alot of work but is something i enjoy.
There is nothing better then getting a group of car lovers together to swap stories and ideas.
Everyone please don't be afraid to come if you car is not a "Show Car". Both my Monte's are drivers and have the rock chips and shoping cart dings to prove it. The Elky is a mess but a work in progress.
Even if you want to come without your car just bring a picture and plenty of stories to tell about it.
The only requirement is you come to have a good time with fellow car lovers.
As of now i have 10 - 4th gen monte owners, 2 - 1st gen monte and hopefully my ratty old Elky will be pulling the smoker to the motel.
We NEED More El Camino's!
We have people attending from as far away as NC, MS & Tn. _________________ 80 ElCamino / Blue-Blue 454-400 Trans

Unfortunately it's too short of a notice for me. BUT... you may want to move the El Camino BBQ and tour to next year to make it part of the national 50th Anniversary celebration. We have East and West Coasts so why not add South?
If you do that I'll add your location to the banner you see below and publicize it at the preceding events. It may help get more attendance and give people time to plan ahead. _________________ Leo

Group Room Rate $69.00 a night that includes Deluxe Continental Breakfast and Free drinks during happy hour 5-7 pm, thats right i said FREE!!!!!
I have reserved 10 rooms in my name (Ken Kerby) You MUST reserve the room by Sept 17th to be included in the reserved block of rooms. Just call and tell them you are with the SMCC and you want to switch a room from my name into yours and then reserve with a credit card. After the 17th you will still be able to get the group rate but who knows where your room will be.
I selected rooms in 2 different buildings but they are on the corner with the pool between them.
This is what i know about the rooms.
Building closest the pool rooms #111 thru 119 (Odd Numbers Only) Smoking Rooms.
Building with doors facing the cars #120 thru 128 (Even Numbers Only) Non Smoking
See the pictures below.
There is plenty of parking for the cars (20+ Spots) grassy area to set up shade tents and some trailer parking if anybody is going to trailer their cars.
There are also some Non Smoking Poolside rooms that may be available but are not reserved under my name. These would be #101 thru 117 i believe.
For those that need a room for friday night also i recomend you reserve ASAP that way you can get one of the reserved rooms Friday & Saturday.
See the pictures below for the parking lot and room layout.
If you plan on coming for the day i need to know if your coming so i can prepare for the BBQ.
I will be asking for donations at the event to help cover some of the food costs so pitch in if you can!
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Just 1 more week!!
I have been working feverishly trying to get the body work done on the Elky. I had a minor set back when my father in law was admitted to the hospital down in largo wednesday so i had to make the trip down. He had to have 2 stints put in and got thru the surgery well.
I am back home today and hopefully will have the Elky in final primer by the end of the weekend. Iwill not have time to get the interior pulled out, dash cap installed, dyed and re-installed so it will just have to stay the way it is for now.
As long as i get my new rear bumper installed with the trailer hitch i will be able to pull the smoker to the motel with it.
Hope some of you guys can make it, even if its just for the day Saturday. _________________ 80 ElCamino / Blue-Blue 454-400 Trans
