i have a 69 el camino 350 / 4sp, currently w/ out AC but plan on reassembling AC. This a cruiser, not a drag strip car.
The front suspension needs help. I was planning on replacing, front and back, the shocks, coil springs, to improve ride & handling, and to lower it about 1.5 inches up front and and 1 inch in back. I do want to be able to haul and tow occasionally.
Found an Eibach sport kit for the springs. Wanted to go with Bilstein shocks, but they do not make shocks for a 69 that has been lowered. Thinking I need a solid adjustable for the rear / towing?
Any ideas or recs. would be great. Don't have the funds to go air ride. Any other suggestions, while i got it on block w/out the tires?
You should not need different shocks if the front is lowered 1.5" I've lowered a few cars from 1-2" and never had problems with standard length shocks.
If you're putting weight in the car, either loading or towing, you can use air lift bags inside the springs to carry the weight and level the car. That was my solution, and works well. Air Lifts work better than air shocks, and are relatively inexpensive from Jeg's or Summit.

I'm mid restoration on my 75 - and went with 2" lowering springs front/rear from OPGI and installed standard length shocks based on feedback I received from my local NAPA store. I also installed the firestone airbag in the rear coils in case I decide to haul something. Relatively easy install.
