Standard split bench seat should bolt in. It wont be vinyl but cloth. You'll have to get it recovered in vinyl, but why?????

The standard bench seat in 1982-1987 El Camino's is a single straight bench with either vinyl or cloth, with a fold-down center armrest. Mine has one in vinyl. Check out junkyards for them. They look somewhat similar to the older style bench seats like in my old '68, but of course have the center armrest, and headrests per Federal Law.

So am I going to have to get something custom if I don't want the arm rest?

I believe that '82 was the last year that the bench came without a center armrest as standard, but someone else will have to verify that. I would look at any '78-87 G-body that you could find in a junkyard, they should all bolt up fine and you likely could find one minus the armrest, especially '78-80.

our 85 elky ss has two tone maroon vinyl straight bench not 60/40 and has armrest

all original maroon matching

had the seat reupholstered stock looking maroon vinyl rib pattern two tone red maroon dark maroon around outside edges and more lighter color in seating and back area

how it was originally

rest of interior dark maroon

there were many different options and combos,

cant say something/a certain combo didnt come or exist in these, because somewhere one got it

you see some crazy combos and such gm did

i had a 78 grand prix last year it was pure bright white vinyl seats with maroon dash and carpet and such

real mint shape clean spotless too bought from old farmer man in springfiueld for 500 bucks drove it away had been in his shed for 8 years untouched i had to bring a battery and gas to fire it up for the first time since he parked it, i added a quart of new oil to it and promptly drove it 30 miles straight down the freeway to my house here

no problem at all the tires didnt even need air

it was so smooth and plushy feeling driving it, like a new car would be

301 poncho and th350

maroon outside

base model

shoudla kept it, it only had 78k miles on it,

a 78 with 78 on it

got boredwith it pretty quickly and sold it to a buddy for a little bit more than i gave for it because no one seemed to be interested in a bench seat g body even with it being that old and lower miles

then it got towed impounded cuz a buddy of his got caught driving it with no registration transferred to his name yet

i have pics somewhere

good luck

My 81 had a bench seat with no center armrest. I still have it, but I'm not sure shipping would be cost prohibitive. But I will sell it if you want. Make me an offer, it's just taking up space right now. I was gonna turn it into a couch for my office, only because I have it.

The seat is a 50/50 slit bench, no arm rest in the center.
It's in pretty good shape. I recolored the interior black (it was originally medium blue) and the seat was recolored too. It didn't turn out bad, but it didn't cover as well as I would have hoped on the cloth sections (vinyl looks great). I think another application of dye on the cloth and it will look much better.

Sorry about the first picture, it's in my spare room (used for storage) and I didn't have time to move it before taking the picture.

This one shows the only wear on the drivers side, just on the piping around the cloth perimeter.
