Going to a 15 x 8 rallye wheel on the rear of my 71 Camino. I have seen a nice full fit with a 275/60 but will a 275/50 or a 295/50 fit without rubbing or altering the wheelwell? Thanks in advance for inputs.
Yes it would fit fine from what info you gave us. If a guy had a full set of 275/60 on is car, then a 275/50 would fit fine _________________ El Camino Nation the second best El Camino forum on the web http://elcamino.freeforums.org/portal.php
Hey Jeff, I've got a '72 (same thing) and I'm running 275x50s on an 8" Cragar with 3-3/4 BS. My photo album has a few shots of the rims and how they sit. I think a 295 is too much width for an 8" rim, you may want a 9" for them. I had run a 295 on a 10" Cragar with 4.5 BS and had rubbing issues. Hope it helps some.... _________________ Mark

Hey Guys....
Ordered the 15 x 8 rallye wheels with 4.5 backspace, fit up with BF Goodrich 275/60R/15 tires. Mounted them the other night and they fit like a champ. Plenty of room up in that wheelwell. They look like they belong there.
Now I need to figure out how much tire I can put up front on the existing 15 x 7 rallye wheels. Anyone running a 60 series up front on their 3rd Gen?
Will post pictures soon. And for us Region 3 members, Carlisle is only a month away, October 1-5, 2008.

Hey Randy, the 275/60's look really tough on there. Its a lot of tire back there. As soon as I pulled out of my driveway, I felt a major difference in the ride and the pedal. I'll post some pics this weekend, then full car pics when I upgrade to BFG 60's on the front.
Jeff, I've got 235x60s on a 7" Cragar up front. To be honest, next set of front tires will be 225x60s. With the 235s I get a rare, but occasional, rub going in or out of driveways etc. No biggie, but it's there once in awhile. Could be a hair of coil sag too. _________________ Mark

Hey Mark, I don't have any rub issues on mine with the 7" ralley's,in fact have plenty of room ,and I have dropped mine in front about an inch. _________________ Randy

Mark ,do you know what offset your 7" Cragars are up frt. ??
I see your post on the rear offset at 3-3/4" .
that may be some of the difference. But like you said Jeff should be fine with either size 60's. _________________ Randy

The 3 3/4 backspace may have something to do with the occasional rub. The existing 15 x 7 rallyes have a 4 1/2" backspace, which is what led me to the same backspace for my new 15 x 8 rallyes.
I will be dismounting the tires that just came off with the rear wheels this weekend. The rallyes will be bead-blasted and painted to match the new ones. It an obvious difference right now.
I was a bit surprised to see how low the front end dropped due to the increase in tire size in the back. And thats with newly replaced springs and gas shocks. I look forward to replacing the existing 235/70s with 235/60s.
