I have a Kicker KX800.2 amp and when you tuen the power on, the protection light comes up and the power light will blink, every time the power light does this, it surges power and the lights dim and the sub do one beat, it repeats this every 3 seconds. also the amp is very warm. Does any of you might no what this could be?
thanks _________________ 71 Elky- In the paint booth right now!
garbage? LoL Sounds like you fried something on one of the boards. If it were a simple fuse it would just not power on etc... I would contact kicker if its under warranty. If not, maybe just invest in a new unit. _________________ 1996 Ford Thunderbird Pearl White - NO MORE
Kicker is a low end amp and they always over rate their amps. You dont say what you are trying to push with it, also does it happen as soon as you turn it on or after it has been on awhile, in either case it has been over heated and shorted out.
As roosten said check your warranty.
I have personally seen many of the Kicker brand go bad because of over rating and the people trying to push too much through them.
Don't get me wrong I am not bashing Kicker it is a good amp if the speakers are matched for the system. As a mater of fact I have 2 10s in my Elky which soung great. _________________ 78 Hot Rod Elky, Black Knight

well see i bought this stuff used.... (opps) i have 2 10in solo barics (square ones). It does it right when you turn it on... now its werid, if you unplug the RCA's the protection light turns off and the power light stays on. And it seems normal... but when they are pluged back in it does the same thing. I contacted the guy i got the stuff from, and he is willing to give me a refund. Nice that some people are honest. _________________ 71 Elky- In the paint booth right now!

Sounds to me like you may be presenting the amp with too low of a load. What is the voice coil configuration of the subs and how do you have them wired? _________________ '86 El Camino SS

Your also not letting us know exactly what type of solo barics you have... because there are the L5s and the L7s.. if you have a L7 thats a lot of power no matter what size sub you have you may have too much power for the amp your using _________________ I bet my engine sounds better than yours....
