If anyone is interested, I can build a dual 10" or 12" subwoofer box that will slide right into the smugglers box.
Or if you prefer, a single 10" or 12" in the 2.25cu. Ft. for deeper clean bass, or a single 10" or 12" ported for serious hip hop bass.
The box is around 2.25 cubic foot in size for around $89, and cover it in trunk liner material at no additional charge.
I can color match in your preference of carpet add $25
I can color match in your preference of vinyl add $49
I can spray it with bedliner material add $65
Shipping will be calculated to your door, cost of shipping only, and I will include the cost of shipping receipt in the box as I am not in the business of making money off shipping.
Let me know if your interested, I should have the proto type for mine finished next week, and i can shoot some pictures for all to see.

Here are a few photos of the first box I built.
There is 2.5 Cubic Feet of air space, and the fit inside the smugglers box on the 79-82, and are going to be available in 8", 10", or 12" cutouts. _________________ Check out www.myspace.com/oc_rick or www.soundjamz.com
"fit inside the smugglers box" -Do mean it fits from the drivers side over to where the sp;are tire is, horizontally? _________________ '79 Chevy Corvette,350 sbc- '78 Olds Cutlass Supreme,350 sbo'- 99 Mitsubishi Galant,3.0 V6- '84 Chevy El Camino Conquista,305 sbc
OK,I see. I was wondering if it work well or not,to fasten something from the 'roof' of the smugglers box. _________________ '79 Chevy Corvette,350 sbc- '78 Olds Cutlass Supreme,350 sbo'- 99 Mitsubishi Galant,3.0 V6- '84 Chevy El Camino Conquista,305 sbc
Make sure if you purchase this item that the subwoofer you are putting in there is to spec of the box. This looks like a very nice item, but if you put a $900 JL Audio 12W7 it would sound like crap, where if you matched the air space to probably the $200ish JL Audio 12W3ish subwoofer it would sound great.
Call the manufacterers or go to a very reputable shop if you are not familiar with this. I can't even tell you how often I hear the people at Best buy or Circuit City telling customers totally wrong information about the car audio items. _________________ 1996 Ford Thunderbird Pearl White - NO MORE

Exaclty El Corvino, you brought up a good point, and if you want a box, just email the subs' manufacturer and model number, I can adjust the air space accordingly with no problem, up to 2.5 cu. ft. total. _________________ Check out www.myspace.com/oc_rick or www.soundjamz.com

Whats the actual sub you had in mind when building your prototype? _________________ '79 Chevy Corvette,350 sbc- '78 Olds Cutlass Supreme,350 sbo'- 99 Mitsubishi Galant,3.0 V6- '84 Chevy El Camino Conquista,305 sbc
Im more of a "hardcore" audio enthusiast. I thought about doing bends and curves and all kinds of stuff with wood and fiberglass... In the end I decided to cut the metal a little bit and reweld it to give myself a few extra inches. No steeling my ideas But if you shoot me an email i'd be glad to discuss it with you. It is a sick idea, I am either doing 2 12W7's or 2 13.5's. 1 on each side of the drive shaft with the ports directly over the drive shaft so the bass shoots between the seats. As you know with ported box it needs some distance of unblocked air space as it comes out of the port.

Nobody has ever done anything like it. Craziest thing I have seen in cab of a el camino was 2 12W6 with one 1000/1. Mine will likely be 2 or 4 1000/1's to 2 13.5's and 2 sets of ZR650's.
I love my ZR's. I have them in my work truck right now and they are incredibly clear at all levels.

Hey Rickster, those boxes look really nice. My son & I are closing in on the final phases of a 79 build for his college car. He bought all the stereo stuff and we are trying now to figure out where to fit it. I looked at your thumbnail of your car and thought man, I've seen that car so looked you up. We are in Friendswood, so would like to check your set up. We hope to have the car ready to go to the Home Depot parking lot next Friday nite. Saw about 40 - 50 nice cars out there tonite. Maybe we can hook up and you can work with us on a box set up and give us some pointers.
PM and we'll see if we can get together
take care, _________________ the RED one
