It's now been 2 years and 8 months since the original rumor of Goodmark selling repro doors and door skins for 5th gens. I sent another e-mail to my contact at Goodmark trying to pry some more information out of him about when these doors and door skins will be available. Here is his response:

We haven't seen samples yet...still working on the tooling. Keep watch on our website for updates.

Over the weekend I sent another e-mail to my contact at Goodmark for more information on when these doors and door skins will be available. I received this response today:

Cool Good Lord Ernie! You would think that they would have expedited this a long time ago when you consider how many people that are waiting to order! They will be lucky to keep up with the backlog of the first two years of the run! Every month they wait more and Elky's or Bu's get scrapped because of bad doors and no replacements. Sad

Someone calling the shots at Goodmark definetly has his head up his butt. I'm beginning to think they never had any intentions of making these doorskins or inner shells when they first said they did. They've even run out of excuses to use.

Well, it's been almost four years now. I pestered my contact at Goodmark again about the doors and door skins. Here is their latest reply.

Yesterday, I sent another request for information to my contact at Goodmark asking if there was anything new to report about the doors and door skins. Unfortunately, it's nothing different.

Four years and one month, still waiting.

I should go and buy up every good door within 100 miles of my house and sell them to you guys up north! I'd make enough money to justify my frame off! Cool

It's been another six months so I was bugging my contact at Goodmark again. He sent me the same response as before.

I guess there aren't going to be any door skins made by Goodmark for 5th gens.

Four years and eight months later...and still waiting.

If they don't do something soon we're going to run out of doors to put on our elk's. The doors on my 86 are original and my dad drove it around for years with trashed window rubbers. Therefore the bottoms rotted out although the outer skin was fine the bottom frame of the door was just gone. A buddy built new bottoms using a template and a steel break and they work great. They look a little rough if you get under the car from all the bondo but its a 20' car anyways so it works. Only doors I've ever seen for sale people want 800 a pop for em. Crazy

800? wow, if anything ever happens to my doors, ill just weld them shut, make them part of the body and leave my windows down. Then paint it orange and put a flag on the top. Get a big "01" on the side.

One of my doors needs some body work attn, but they also need some rust attention, im hoping its not to bad.
