This time I have a picture. There is this silver circular object that prevents me from fitting the carburetor on. What do I do? Take the carburetor back?
Looks to me like you have more problems than that. Are you getting off the computer controlled carb system?
Even if you went ahead and mounted the carb, it will not crank because it appears the computer system is intact. If it is, the distributor will have to be changed to an hei with a vac advance, or an aftermarket brand.
Looking at your picture, the power brake booster tubing line will have to be connected, which you will have to drill and tap the adapter plate unless the aftermarket carb has a fitting for it. The egr (shinny round thing) can be removed and an adapter plate bolted on.
It also looks like your tv cable is in bad shape and needs to be replaced. If it is not connected properly your tranny will crash.
Also make sure all the intake bolts are tight.
Hope this helps. _________________ 86 El Camino SS Z15 / Posi / 305-V8-4bbl

That silver object is the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). There is a block-off plate available to eliminate it, but I would try to keep it. Personally I would spend the money to have the Rochester rebuilt rather than buy an Edelbrock. The Rochester is a good carb.

pops86 is right, He replied while I was still typing. I did not address the other problems with this carb install. There are a lot of other considerations about installing a non-computer carb where a feed-back carb (computer controlled) was originally.
