I like the L-88 hoods. Put it on there. Would be a nice change from the usual cowl hoods that seem to be the most common stock replacement. No, I'm not knocking the cowl hoods here. I like those also.
I was actually thinking of trading the 4" cowl glass hood i got for a 2 1/2" L88 glass hood for my 70. Slap it on there and put up some pics I wanna see how it turns out.

i was kinda worried about it though because its the type that needs to be pop riveted and bondod but i hear it can crack around the scoop easily. is this true?

Save your money and buy a hood with scoop. Or you will end up buying the scoop and installing it and having it painted and will end up having it crack. Then you will be in the market to end up buying the hood with scoop. I've seen many different people and body fabricators try and install a scoop and everyone has cracked.
It might be able to be done, but I haven't seen it yet.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ mygallary

I have to agree - rivit/bondo scoops will ALWAYS crack and show an outline of the scoop. The hood is just a tough spot due to engine heat, hood closing and general flex. Save the $$ for a metal hood ready to bolt on.
i built an L88 hood for my dads 81 el camino ss and it came out beautiful. i used evercoat vette panel adhesive and evercoat polyflex filler. its been opened closed slammed sat in the sun rain and snow and never crackedand i built it 4yrs ago. i got a fiberglass scoop from jc whitney that they call the super L88 it fits even at the rear edge and about an inch from the front. it made that elky look hateful _________________ 81 el camino ss 79 el camino black knight
