Aloha all,
Didn't know where to post this, so here goes. My Elco like many other is having a problem with the windows (electric) going down and "jumping/shaking", however it goes up just fine. I thought it was the motor but now after taking off the trim, I noticed that the rivets that hold the regulator to the door as well as the rivet holding the "scissor" was/is REALLY LOOSE.
Has anyone ever changed that center rivet (on the scissor portion) to try to tighten up the whole action or knocked it a couple of times with a BFH? Also, I am looking at changing all the rivets to screws/wavey washers and nuts. Someone let me know if this has been tried as it looks like it may be a lot of work with little return if this doesn't work.
Thanks to all that reply. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!

The rivets to the door can be replaced with 1/4" bolts. Use fine threaded bolts as they will hold better.
The center joint of the sciccor like I just said in another post really isn't repairable. Been thinking about that one for a while and haven't come up with an easy fix.
Also check the studs for the rollers and see if they are loose.
As for me I have a pile of wondow regulators to get rid of...
I'm upgrading my windor regulators with ones that have springs so I'll look into cutting apart the ones from my 84 to see what can be done to repair them. Probably easier to fabricate a whole new scissor and just reuse the gear part of the old one. _________________ Robert Adams

Replaced al the rivets holding in the regulator and replaced them with 1/4 bolts and nuts. Seems to hold the assembly alot better. Also, I did notice that the rollers are "REALLY, REALLY" loose. As much as I didn't want to, I may have to remove the entire assembly to check out what I can do.
Thanks again to all that replied, will let you know how this turns out. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!

See if the studs for the rollers are tight. If they are you can swap just the roller on it. There is a bare roller for another app that I use to replace them. Also that little roller is a snap on deal too.
If you need rollers and can't find them I usually have them. I have the tools to put the rivet on ones with too. _________________ Robert Adams
