found out what the part is called. it's the air injection pipes the one on my passnger side one has a hole . will driving it like this damage my engine? i googled it and found the part . also are these easy to install ? should i do it myself or have a pro fix it! _________________ ''EAST-LB-MINO''

First of all it's not going to hurt your engine...but it is a part of your emissions system...depending on where you live may be a problem. As far as removing it and replacing it, that pipe goes into the exhaust manifold and that's more than likely rusted...removing it from the manifold is where the problem is...you could break it off in the manifold and then have to deal with extracting the broken off piece(s) by extracting them out or drilling them out in order to install the new pipe. If depending on where you live...your not required to pass an emissions test, I would leave it, plug it, or crimp it...depending on where it's broke or the hole is. If your future plans are to swap in another motor...I definitely wouldn't mess with it...deal with it then...by installing some headers. the hole is at the top where it connects to the hose i tried taping it shut with duct tape and it work for a couple of days but it opened again now .now this part only cost 25 buck at autozone but i dont have tools to fix it and dont want to make it worst it's my daliy driver at the moment !

Try some J-B Weld epoxy on the hole. You got nothing to loose. Rough up the surface with some sandpaper first, let it set overnight to cure. Or depending on the situation, maybe you could use a hose clamp and some J-B Weld under the hose clamp to seal the hole.

I've had to remove those before, they are a PITA. The A.I.R. tubes are either aluminum or stainless (I can't remember which) and the fittings that hold them onto the exhaust manifold are similar to brake line fittings. Like theelcaminofactory said, they are almost always corroded and very hard to get off, usually end up breaking before they come loose.
Use lots of penetrating oil and let it soak a while. You'll need to use a break line wrench to break them free. A regular open end wrench will surely round over the nut surface and cause even more trouble. If you can, try to get the old one off with the exhast manifold on the engine. This will help hold it in position so you can get some leverage on the fitting. If you don't have the right tools, save yourself more headaches and take it in to have the work done.
If your car does not require emissions testing in your area, I would try the JB Weld patch option first. But he's right, you may not get it to pass emissions if they see the hole in the tube. _________________

i live in california , the guy who sold it to me passed smog on it. i need to find out what it will cost to replace it, but i bought some j & b weld will try this 1st wont hurt,thx guys _________________ ''EAST-LB-MINO''
Those are steel lines, and like everyone else said, a royal PIA to remove. Mine had the original 30 year old lines, I had to drill and tap every one.
JB weld should work fine if it's up by the hose/check valve. Not much heat gets up there. Those lines only get back pressure when under heavy acceleration. Otherwise, they will actually draw a vacuum.
