And I read....

At the moment there are two official 50th Anniversary celebration locations, Carlisle, PA and Bakersfield, CA. There is a strong possibility of a third in Florida.

It appears some of our Region 6 members might have some info on this. We need to put the day on the map and do what we can to support.

Skinnyfisher / Count any more info on this as of yet?

I have been talking to Leo (LeoC2) about having a joint El Camino - Monte Carlo meet here in Florida next year and including that in the 50th celebration.
I have been looking for an established show we can "piggyback". Its better to join an existing show and add classes and trophys for the El Camino's & Monte's, that way someone has already done the work of securing a place to have the event, lodging, food, advertising, ect....
I was looking for something more northern (maybe Jacksonville, Daytona) that way its more of a centralized location for NC, SC, GA, AL,TN.. you get the point.
I tried to include the El Camino's in my annual SMCC BBQ but for one reason or another the timing wasn't right.
The event must be sometime in late July to October for certain reasons i can't discuss at this time.
Does anyone know of an event meeting the above criteria and if so can you let me know. Any info on the organizer would also be appreciated.

Several PM`s have been going around on the possibility of having a 50 th anniversary celebration in our area ( possibly Jacksonville ) , but it is early in the process. A location is being looked into that would facilitate members from surrounding states to also attend. 87MCSS has come up with the idea and is activily looking into it. I`m sure Ken will give us more info as it becomes available and I am writing this to encourage you to let him know your interest and thoughts. It is much easier to get other people to listen to your ideas when others have expressed an interest in participating. This would be a great opportunity for those that cannot make it up to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for the 50 th. celebration of the El Camino.

I'm in for 2009 without a doubt. I'm picking up the headers from the shop tomorrow. They now sport a newer look complete with ceramic powder coating to eliminate the arcing issue that started this thing in the first place.

I spoke with chrome shop today. Parts were in work as we spoke. Smile The Elco will soon be looking, sounding, and running better. I can't wait. Smile

BTW.. Edonthebeach. The suspension parts are all clean. Ball joint and bushing removal ops will be in work by this weekend. Chrome shop has been notified more work is coming their way. Cool

Keep us posted region 6.

I'm about 4 hours from JAX, so this is a more realistic drive, than to Carlisle PA. I usually show 2 times a year at AutoFair in Charlotte, but see at the most, only three to four Elkys. I will support you any way I can.
